By creating an account or using HackNerds, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

Description of service

HackNerds is a hackathon management platform that enables organizers to create events, manage applications, assign judges, and track submissions. Participants use the platform to apply, form teams, submit projects, and receive scores.

User responsibilities

You are responsible for:

• Maintaining the security of your GitHub account used for authentication
• The accuracy of information you provide in applications and submissions
• Complying with the rules and guidelines of hackathons you participate in
• Respecting the intellectual property rights of other participants

Hackathon organizer responsibilities

If you create and manage hackathons, you are additionally responsible for:

• Setting clear rules, guidelines, and judging criteria for your events
• Making fair and honest application decisions
• Managing judge assignments and ensuring scoring integrity
• Handling participant data in compliance with applicable privacy laws
• Configuring webhook integrations responsibly

Acceptable use

You may not use HackNerds to:

• Submit fraudulent applications or plagiarized projects
• Manipulate judging scores or processes
• Harass or discriminate against other users
• Transmit malicious content through submissions or integrations
• Create hackathons for purposes unrelated to legitimate events

Intellectual property

Projects submitted to hackathons remain the intellectual property of their creators unless the hackathon organizer specifies otherwise in their event rules. HackNerds does not claim ownership of any submitted content.

No warranty

HackNerds is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. We do not guarantee that the service will be error-free, secure, or continuously available.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Strategic Nerds is not liable for any damages arising from your use of HackNerds, including but not limited to:

• Decisions made by hackathon organizers regarding applications
• Judging outcomes or scoring disputes
• Data loss or service interruptions
• Any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages

Updates and modifications

We may update HackNerds and these terms from time to time. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified terms.

Termination

You may stop using HackNerds at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of the United States.
