Infinite Backlog
This page lists everything Infinite Backlog collects, why, and who handles it for us.
You can play without an account
Offline modes never need an account. Online play (leaderboards, the Daily Sprint, and matches) needs an account.
What we collect
- Email address. Used only to send you a sign-in code. It is never shown to other players, never returned by any game endpoint, and never written to our logs.
- User ID. A random identifier for your account. Your public name is a job title made from fixed word lists, such as "Fractional Vibes Whisperer #4821".
- Gameplay content. Scores, levels reached, match results, ranked ratings, and the input logs of runs and matches. We use input logs to replay a run and check that its score is real.
All of this is linked to your account and used only to run the game. We do not track you across other apps or websites. The app has no advertising.
How long we keep it
- Input logs of runs: 90 days, unless the run holds a leaderboard place.
- Input logs of matches: 30 days.
- Scores, placements, and ratings: until you delete your account.
Who handles your data for us
- Neon. Hosts the database and the sign-in service (accounts and email addresses).
- Vercel. Runs the game's web API.
- Fly.io. Runs the game server for online matches and checks uploaded runs.
- Our email provider. Sends the six-digit sign-in codes.
- PostHog. Receives anonymous gameplay events (for example, a run started, the sprint reached, a match result) so we can see how the game is played. Events carry a random install ID, never your email, user ID, or name, and you can turn them off in Settings.
We do not sell your data or share it with anyone else.
Your rights
You can delete your account at any time in the app: Settings, then Delete my account. This removes your account, runs, leaderboard places, and ratings. In match history, your seat shows as "Former Employee". Your offline progress stays on your iPhone.
You can ask for a copy of your data, or ask us to correct it, through the support page. If you are in the EU, the GDPR gives you these rights, and you can complain to your data protection authority.
